What a beautiful place! Although I haven´t visited the Alps in Europe yet, this place has to be a mirror image of what some of those mountain towns in Germany and Switzerland look like. I went with Els (a fellow traveler from Belgium-Amsterdam Regi, and Maraika and, after arriving a bit late, Regi and I decided to rent mountain bikes and go for a 24 km ride. I had a great time as it was the first time in a long time I have been in the mountains for an extended period of time and ridden a mountain bike. I did have a spectacular accident as I hit a tree trunk - the bike stopped but I kept going for about 4 feet over the front and I landed on my shoulder - everything was OK. I now think the terrain is similar to Alaska - virtually no development, the water is cristal clear, and the silence in some places is deafening. It was very very beautiful - I said a prayer of thanks for my time here as Semana Santa began. Tomorrow, I have no idea what we are doing but I am going to bed and it is only 10:30.
