  • Un Accidente

Written by Brian David Crane on April 18th, 2005

Well, I had my first serious accident with the motorcycle today before we went to the soccer game (Instituto 3-2 la gloria!)…I am fine, the motorcycle and my camera (which was in my pocket on the side I fell to) are broken up a bit. As for what happened, I was following Leandro, Ben, Samuel, and Angelica as Morena (the dog in our family) chased Leandro’s car. I turned my head to say something to Daniela (who was riding with me) when Leandro stopped in the road to send Morena back to the house…I saw him a bit too late, hit the brakes, went sideways (to the left) with the moto…it hit the tail of his car and went under as Daniela and I fell to the side. The front of the moto is pretty busted up. I bruised my right leg really good, cut my elbow, both knees, and left leg - Daniela cut her elbow and her left leg. I was really shaken up afterwards but in retrospect it could have been a lot worse as I did hit my head on the pavement but not very hard (no bruises, concussion, etc.). As for the moto and the camera, I think it will probably cost $100 dollars to fix the moto (mostly plastic damage, pictures to follow later) and another $100 to fix the LCD screen on my camera (it still takes pics but you can’t see them). Well, dinner is served so I have to run. Cuidado!
