  • Salvador de Bahia, Brasil 2

Salvador doesn´t deserve the bad reputation I gave it in my first post. I will say the city has to do something about panhandling as it is overwhelming and ruins a lot of what the city offers. As for a quick rundown on what I did during my last couple of days in Salvador, I spent all of my nights in São Jorge even though this book recommended I leave and visit another part of Bahia.I visited the lighthouse and ate some sort of hush puppy with cooked shrimp, spices, and whatnot - it was very very good (in fact, I ate another one afterwards). I have discovered that I can´t resist eating the food from the street vendors - cooked corn, the hush puppie things, cooked cheese on a stick - it´s all good and, to me, an opportunity to try something new.I met up with Gustavo on Monday morning and we took an overnight bus from Bahia to Recife to meet up with Dani & Geli (the other two girls - Chaley & Alejandra - in the group left as the group wasn´t quite functioning as it was). We almost missed the bus as I thought it was at 7:45 instead of 6:45 and he thought the bus station was close (it wasn´t) - we ended up paying the hostel owner Damien to drive us to the bus station.
