Another great day is coming to a close and I am really enjoying myself in and around Bariloche with some old (2 weeks) and some new (2 days) friends. As for today, Regi rented a car and we took a road trip up into the mountains in search of a picnic and a glacier. The first stop was the picnic after we sang (mostly) english songs on the way to the park (my memory, for the most part, failed me in terms of remembering song lyrics). After a picnic of sandwiches, salami, an apple, cafe cubano, and various other things that Maraike chose earlier in the morning (I bought some socks!). She is a great tour guide as the past two mornings she has come down, woken me up, and basically had the day entirely planned out. I just follow along and try to make everyone laugh occasionally. It is nice, for a change, to not be making the decisions and trying to pull the group in one direction or another. I have been extremely happy with everywhere we have gone and done (and I didn´t know where we were going or what we were doing until the morning of!). Today, after the picnic, we visited a glacier and I seriously thought about jumping onto one of the floating chunks (just to see if I could) only to feel the water was FREEZING (duh). Anyway, I made myself happy by climbing close to (and on, I think - as it is difficult to tell where the mountain ends and the glacier begins) the glacier as this park has about 2 rangers for 1000 miles of space and there were a total of 4 other people visiting this glacier when we were (so, we had free roam in the park). After the glacier trip, we visited a waterfall in the park and then returned home around 10:00. Regi is off to buy some wine and I think we are going out to the discos tonight as it is our last night in Bariloche before we leave for El Bolson tomorrow. Suerte para ustedes!
