  • Morocco 1 - U.S. 0

I just got back from Nashville where I went last night with Tavis and two of his club soccer friends to see the U.S. play Morocco in a World Cup friendly match. The U.S. played decently well but lost the game in the 89th minute on a Moroccan counter-attack. We met up with Mark and Abby stopped by for a minute as well once we were at the stadium. It was a beautiful day and we cooked out before the game with some hamburgers, hot dogs, and beer. As a group, we split up inside of the stadium as I finally got in for free around halftime courtesy of an open gate and eventually sat with Mark. The attendance was about 26,000 - the most to ever see a soccer game in the state of TN (so I guess you could say I was part of historical event…). After the game, we met back up at Tavis’ car and played soccer tennis in the parking lot until around 10:30 when Mark and I headed out and went down to Broadway in downtown Nashville to do some “honky-tonkin’”. Basically from what I gathered, a honky-tonk is just a small bar with some live country music and dancing and populated by persons whose common characteristic is a neck that is tinted red. It was a fun night and it made me appreciate Nashville more as the city has TONS of musicians (i.e. that’s why it is called The Music City) and a pretty cool vibe with a mixture of country, rock, redneck, and high class all blended together. I crashed at Mark’s place and met back up with Tavis and his two friends earlier today for the ride back to Knoxville and now, seeing as how we have another beautiful day here in TN, I am going out to play some soccer.
