My buddy Wes & I went with this crazy friend of mine, Sukhmani, out to Meades Quarry to do some cliff-jumping. The amazing thing about this quarry is that it is only about 5 minutes from downtown Knoxville - you can see one side of it from Neyland Stadium - and yet not many people know it exists. Supposedly, there are some bodies and cars buried in this thing…I think that’s true of just about every quarry, though. But this thing has to be at least 1000 feet deep in the center and, buried bodies or not, we jumped several times from about 30 feet and then had to climb back up part of the cliffs - Great experience and a great place.
