Mark and Jordan were in town this weekend and, as always, the good times never really stopped. On Friday, I met up with both of them out at Mark’s parent’s house on the lake before going out to dinner with all of Mark’s family. It is always nice to see Mark’s parents, Jack & Cookie, as they never fail to entertain. They seem to remember our childhood better than the three of us and can quickly rattle off old stories about us getting into trouble. We went tubing down the Little River on Saturday with a fourth tube we will just call “Betsie”. The mountains, river, and rope swings were beautiful but trusty ole Betsie stole the show. Now, Betsie was not an ordinary tube as she was filled with a certain magical elixir. Plainly put, Betsie’s favorite song of all time is “Simple Man” by Lynyrd Skynyrd…especially when it is set to a Busch commercial in the mountains. After discarding Betsy and boarding the “mooch train”, we headed straight for my (parent’s) house where we loaded up on some hamburgers. Now, whenever Mark, Jordan and I get together (usually Chris Reed is there as well but this weekend he ditched us to go to a wedding for a girl he loves…or should I say loved…in New Mexico…who he last saw in middle school! we make up some great stories that build and build and build. Saturday night was not an exception. We went to an unofficial Issues Committee party in Fort Sanders where Mark, Jordan, and I made up a whole bunch of stories. My favorite of the night was the one about the big girl who really liked Jordan, who wouldn’t leave him alone, who came crashing down the stairs screaming his name looking for him, and who found him (courtesy of me) in the backseat of his car. And then kissed him. Oh wait, that one was true.Sunday was exceptionally chill as we went out to Mark’s parent’s house on the lake again for some swimming and jet-skiing before a big barbeque that night. Something about the lake just makes me feel like I am on vacation….Anyhow, it was a great weekend with two really good friends of mine.
