  • Guns

I went out with a couple friends who are avid firearm owners on Sunday to shoot some high-powered weaponry. Included in this weaponry were guns such as an AK-47, an AR-15 (whose military designation is the M16 and is used by the U.S. Army & Marine Corps a variety of Glock .357s and 9 mms, and a folding-stock shotgun. It was - to this gun novice - quite an arsenal. After a couple of hours on the range, it was pretty clear that I am not the next Dirty Harry, Billy The Kid or any other notorious gunslinger. Pictures from the range can be found here: 1, 2, 3, 4.It was cool, though, trying out all of those different guns. I especially liked the AK-47; not because it was particularly smooth to fire (the AR-15 was much smoother but simply because I thought it was a bit nuts to actually shoot an AK-47. I have a picture somewhere from the range with me holding the AK-47 and posing next to an Osama Bin Laden poster. Maybe a bit ridiculous but when I find it, rest assured, it is going to be put up here. A BDC.com exclusive folks…(UPDATE: As you can see, I have little to no shame and have put the Bin Laden picture up above this post - feel free to tell me how much of an idiot I look like).
