Graduation
Written by Brian David Crane on May 12th, 2006
I graduated from UT on Friday with the University Commencement in the morning and the College of Business ceremony in the afternoon. My sister, Lauren, is pictured above. My parents put together a barbeque at Tyson Park on Saturday to celebrate the event (in similar fashion to the barbeques held there by the international kids). Alejandro & Viviana, Wes, Gandi, Lukas, Abby, Caroline, and some family friends were all there - maybe it wasn’t the best weekend as A LOT of people had conflicts and couldn’t make it, specifically Roberto, Julian, Melissa, and Marcelo.I don’t feel much different after having graduated other than the personal pressure I am now applying to make something big happen. I do feel a sense of loneliness, however, similar to the one I felt after returning from Argentina. The problem with international/foreign-exchange friends is they (or I) keep leaving! Felipe, Lukas, and Emilien are all back in their respective countries (although Felipe is traveling in Europe before heading back to Brasil) and Marcelo is preparing to go back to Argentina in a few weeks. Roberto also is leaving as he recently found a job and H-1 visa in Miami. Last but certainly not least, Abby is gone as she left to spend the summer in Nashville before going up to Washington D.C. for grad school. I am going to miss each of them for a variety of reasons.
