English in Italy

The level of English in Italy is pretty poor. This was true throughout the country. Whether we were in Rome, Siena, or Capri, the average Italian didn’t speak much beyond le puro italiano. This was quite surprising for a country that is so dependent on foreign tourists. Maybe it adds to the charm…?
