• Venice, Las Vegas Final Campsite Dam overlook Beautiful view v.2

  • Corcovado, Churrascaria, & Samba

I had a fantastic day yesterday as one of my dreams to stand at the bottom of the Corcovado (the Christ statute overlooking Rio) was realized (the dream came from the final scene in the Brasilian movie The Man Who Copied where the main characters are standing in the same place). Fantastic views - we watched the sun set over Rio from the base of the statute. I don´t think I have ever seen a city as beautiful from above as Rio is - the mountain and island setting is extremely impressive. Pictures will be posted when I get back to Córdoba.Afterwards, we went to a Churrascaria - a Brasilian steakhouse where you basically eat until you can´t walk (great idea after my episode in the pizza place, right?). The food was fantastic - I had heard from everyone in Arg. that Brasilian meat was horrible because the cattle couldn´t roam, cows are smarter in Arg., Maradona is better than Pele, etc. etc. but, to tell the truth, the food last night was *almost* as good as anything I have eaten in Arg. The way the restaurant works is something like this: you have a salad bar in the center with sushi and what-not but the main attraction is the waiters who constantly walking around with big slabs of meat on rotisserie spears and continuously put more meat of all varieties on your place based on a little red/green card that is next to your plate. Needless to say, it was nice and my stomach behaved relatively well. After the dinner, we headed out to Lapa (another area of Rio known for live music and samba clubs) and found a little samba club called 100% Lapa with about 8 black men playing samba in this little bar that was absolutely packed with people inside and in the street. I have to go, we are about to head out to a soccer match here in Rio - I will write more later!
